LAHORE – Johar Town’s Lahore Grammar School, Sargodha University and Abbottabad’s Hazara Shaheen will make their debut in the fourth edition of National Women’s Football Club Championship 2011, which will be played from April 15 to 27 simultaneously in Quetta, Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar. The top two teams from the Lahore and Islamabad zones will move into the 7th National Women’s Championship, along with champions of Quetta, Karachi and Peshawar zones. The event is slated to run at Islamabad’s Jinnah Stadium from September 17 to 30.
Diya FC will be the hot favorites to top the Karachi zone, where the other teams will be Marta Club, Karachi Kickers and City FC. Punjab University’s Sports Sciences will show their prowess in the Lahore zone. They will face LUMS and Johar Town’s Lahore Grammar School in Group A, while Model Town Club are pitted with Fatima and Lahore Fighters in Group B. Sports Sciences have not missed out on the top three spots in the National Championship since winning the 2007 event.
Islamabad zone will see the energetic Young Rising Star of Rawalpindi in action. They will tackle debutants Sargodha Universirty, Hazara Shaheen, Margala Club and YRS Layyah. Frontier College, Striker Club, Peshawar Club and FATA Club will appear in the Peshawar zone while Quetta zone will feature Chiltan Club, Roshni Club, Quetta Junior and Balochistan United.
