Karachi is known for its kidnappings for ransom and extortion. In recent days the traders in Karachi have been protesting against these incidents which have been especially targeted at them. It should be the responsibility of the police with the support of the administration to provide the necessary security to this community against extortionists.
Unfortunately, they have failed to do so and instead these practices are rampant and taking place under the very nose of the police. It is quite evident that the performance of the security apparatus in Karachi has completely degraded to a point where there is a public outcry.
