Constable arrested for robbing citizen

LAHORE – A police constable was arrested for robbing valuables from a citizen in Choong Police Station precincts on Sunday. According to details, Salman Ali, a resident of Hussainabad, was working at Ali Mobile Shop located at Thokar Niaz Baig, when a man who identified himself as a policeman gave a cellular phone to Salman for selling.
Salman, after checking the phone, immediately nabbed the constable and started questioning him about the phone. Salman and his friend gathered several people and also informed police that they have nabbed a robber. Salman told police that the constable was carrying the same phone which he (constable) snatched from him (Salman) on gunpoint along with another phone and music player late on Saturday night while Salman was heading back home after closing the shop.
Police nabbed the constable who identified himself as Hanif. According to police, Hanif was performing duty at Police Lines nowadays. Salman told police that the constable was wearing plain clothes and riding a bike during the robbery. He said that when Hanif presented the phone for selling, he immediately identified it.
Police registered a FIR against the constable who also confessed his crime. Police also recovered the other phone and music player from Hanif’s possession. Man kills wife over dubious character: A man shot dead his 38-year-old wife on Sunday for allegedly having illicit relations with other men at Bahawal Sher Road in Mozang Police Station precincts.
The victim was identified as Sajida Parveen, a resident of Bahawal Sher Road near Begum Building in Mozang Area. According to police, Sajida married her cousin Rafique some years ago but he doubted the character of his wife. On Sunday, Rafique allegedly caught her wife with another man in an objectionable position. The man managed to flee but Rafique got angry and took out his pistol and fired at Sajida resulting in her instant death.
After hearing bullet shots, local residents informed Mozang Police, which reached the spot and arrested Rafique and shifted Sajida’s body to Mayo Hospital for autopsy. Police registered a case against Rafique on Sajida’s brother’s complaint and have started investigation. Police said that according to Rafique, the unidentified man used to frequently visit his house.
Separately, a 32-year-old unidentified man was found dead under mysterious circumstances near Loharan Walan Koh, Multan Road in Manga Mandi Police Station precincts area. According to Edhi Ambulance Service sources, the man was a drug addict and died of an overdose. Police shifted the body to the morgue and started searching for its heirs.
