Bosnian minister urges trade agreement

LAHORE – Punjab Board of Investment and Trade Chief Executive Officer Saadat Muzaffar in Bosnia Herzegovina to attend the second Sarajevo InvestmentForum has called on Minister for Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia Herzegonia, Malden Zirojevic.
According to a handout received Saturday, on the behalf of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Saadat Muzaffar met the Minister to discuss means to boost trade and investment between the two countries. He was accompanied by Pakistani Ambassador Jahaur Saleem and a delegation of business people from the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).
During the meeting, Zirojevic stressed that the distance between the two countries must not stand in the way of the tremendous potential for trade and investment between both countries. He insisted that there are many agreements between the two countries that create a positive atmosphere for private sector engagement, such as the Agreement on Trade and Economic Cooperation which was signed in 2009.
He expressed his desire to expedite work on hammering out a Preferential Trade Agreement between the two countries in the near future. PBIT CEO said that direct trade between both countries can eliminate the expenditure incurred on exports by Bosnia. He highlighted the margins that Bosnia could have in trading with Pakistan in rice, furniture, surgical tools, leather, processed goods and fruits like mangoes and citrus.
Both sides agreed to exchange delegations in specific areas that have economic potential. Muzaffar, on behalf of Punjab chief minister, extended an invitation to Bosnian Minister Mladen Zirojevic to visit Pakistan. The Bosnian minister said he wished to visit witha similar delegation of businessmen from Bosnia.
