PLF hails presidential reference on ZAB’s case

LAHORE – The People’s Lawyers’ Forum (PLF) Punjab chapter on Saturday hailed the presidential reference filed in the Supreme Court (SC) to revisit the Zulfikar Ali Bhutto (ZAB) hanging case.
PLF Punjab Senior Vice President Malik Nasir Awan and Additional General Secretary Rana Sufyan Arshad said that ZAB’s death was a judicial murder, as the judges who gave the decision have also accepted that it was a wrong decision. They said that revisiting the case will also be helpful to strengthen the judicial system of Pakistan.
The PLF leaders said that Bhutto could have bargained with the military dictator and lived a luxurious life but he preferred to be killed by a dictator instead of being killed by history. Awan and Arshad said that Bhutto will always be remembered as one of the great leaders who took part in the liberation of the third world from imperialism and neo-colonialism during the 20th Century.
They said that at time of his overthrowing, Bhutto was emerging as the spokesman of the Islamic World and a visionary leader of all third world countries. His life and political career were cruelly terminated by the military dictator, they added.
The PLF leaders said that the last chapter of Bhutto’s life was a glorious example of martyrdom for the cause of resurrection of democracy. It was Bhutto who gave voice to poor people to struggle for their rights, they concluded.
