TOBA TEK SINGH – The first death anniversary of senior journalist, Haji Majeed Anwar, was observed here the other day.
Political workers, religious leaders, journalists and people from all walks of life attended the ceremony. Speakers paid tributes to the late journalist. MPA Mian Muhammad Rafiq, Labour Party Secretary General Farooq Tariq, MQM MPA Aleemuddin,DBA President Mian Farrukh Iqbal, former district nazim Ch Muhammad Ashfaq, PML district president Amjad Javed, PML Minority Wing President Rashid Jalal, Tariq Mahmood, Maulana Abdullah, Qari Hannan, Mustafa Paras, Malik Shaukat Ali,Manzoor Naz, Ihsan Burki, Atif Saeed, Maulana Munem Siddiqi, Zafar Pirzada, Lala Ghulam Muhammad were among the speakers.
CITY RECEIVES LIGHT RAIN: The city and its surroundings received light rain on Saturday. After the rain, the weather became pleasant and mercury came down for a few hours.
POLICE PARTY ATTACKED: A marriage ceremony participants attacked a police party when they arrested a person for firing in the air in Eidgah locality. Reportedly, the police freed the arrested man on political pressure.
