GUJRANWALA – Punjab Census Commissioner Dr Jamal Yousaf has urged the officers and staff to complete the national task of census in time with responsibility. He stated this while addressing a meeting attended by Gujranwala Division Commissioner Saeed Iqbal Wahla and the DCOs of Gujranwala, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Narowal and Hafizabad, Additional Commissioner Riaz Ahmad Butt, EDO Revenue Sialkot Tariq Zaman Khan and SSP Muhammad Afzal Butt.
Dr Jamal Yousaf said a field operation plan had been chalked out for all the districts while an operational manual along with other necessary documents had already been provided to the revenue and education staff for the census. Commissioner Wahla said district control rooms have been established in all the DCO offices to monitor the proceedings, adding complaints from staff as well as the general public would be welcomed.
BANK ROBBER HELD WITH BOOTY: People’s Colony police arrested a member of the gang involved in a bank robbery and recovered Rs 145,000 from him. Reportedly, Khalid and Nanhu of Lahore were involved in looting cash from a bank in People’s Colony. The police, in a raid, arrested Khalid while his accomplice Nanhu managed to escape.
The car used in the robbery was also recovered.
MINOR CRUSHED TO DEATH: A speeding van crushed to death a gypsy child playing at a roadside near Ladhewala Warraich. The van hit Hassan when he was playing at the roadside and killed him instantly. The driver left the vehicle and escaped from the scene.
