LAHORE – Lahore Police on Friday launched a massive search and sweep operation in various areas of the provincial capital to arrest three suicide bombers who recently entered the city to carry out terrorist attacks.
Separate police teams, late on Thursday night, launched operations in various areas of the city including Shahdara, Lorry Adda, Badami Bagh, Misri Shah, Mughalpura, Shalimar, surroundings of Bund Road, Sherankot, Thokar Niaz Baig, Choong, Green Town, Dharampura, Raiwind and Township.
The operation was especially launched in those areas where Afghans reside in majority. Lahore Police have expanded the search operation until Sheikhupura and Kasur in search of the aforementioned suspects. Police teams especially searched rented houses and collected particulars of tenants.
Police also searched hotels and inns in search of the suspects. Policemen have also launched a massive search operation in surroundings of the Allama Iqbal International Airport and railway station. Lahore. The search operation was launched when Lahore Police arrested a suspected suicide bomber from Lytton Road Area while he was making a uspicious call, who revealed that three suicide bombers have entered the city.
CCPO augments shrines’ security: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Muhammad Aslam Tareen directed the Lahore Police on Friday to ensure the installation of surveillance cameras at all shrines of the provincial capital. While presiding over a meeting held at the Capital City Police Headquarters, Tareen directed the officials to ensure proper lighting at religious places during late hours.
He also directed them that parking stands ought be established away from the shrines.
