LAHORE – Pakistan hockey is looking for a bilateral series against arch-rivals India for the betterment of hockey and for the development of good relations between the two countries. A PHF official said that he expects a Pakistan-India hockey series to take place by the end of this year.
He pointed out that cricket diplomacy seems to have played its part in easing off the tensions between the two countries. Asif Bajwa, PHF Secretary General, said that efforts have been started to bring the two countries together on the playing field and hopefully, if things remained calm, the series would take place by the end of this year.
He further informed that the Indian Hockey Federation Secretary Narinder Batra was in contact with him and they would come out with a positive approach for the series. He further stated that the series will take place at both junior and senior levels, but not before the formal approval from both the governments.
“The formalities of the series and the match schedule will be decided only after the clearance from the governments,” he said.
