KARACHI – Five men allegedly involved in the murder of journalist Wali Khan Babar were sent on police remand till the 18th by an anti-terrorism court (ATC), but they will have to be produced before the court at the next hearing.
The accused, including Shahrukh alias Mani, Naveed alias Polka, Shakil Malik, Faisal Mehmood alias Nafsiyati and Syed Muhammad Ali Rizvi, were produced before an ATC on Friday, with the police seeking their physical remand for further interrogation. The police argued that they needed more time to probe their alleged links into the killing of journalist Babar. The police stated that there were some 18 suspects involved in the killing, and the mastermind, Faisal Mota, is still absconding.
Granting the police request, ATC Administrative Judge Maqbool Baqar sent the suspects on police remand but ordered the police to produce them at the next hearing.
