LAHORE – The All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) will file a petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC) seeking to remove the name of former president Rafiq Tarar from all government records as president and Supreme Court judge due to his dubious character, APML Lawyers Wing President Siddique Mirza said on Friday.
Mirza said that Tarar’s character was so stigmatic and doubtful that he should not have been made president and SC judge. He said that the former president played a dual role in the notorious case of cooperative scandal along with Afzal Lone to protect Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif and his role regarding the case of former chief justice Sajjad Ali Shah was an open secret regarding his reputation and character.
The APML leader disclosed that everyone knows who was boarded to Quetta, with bags containing currency notes, on the chartered plane of the PM and for these services, Nawaz had nominated him as president.
