LAHORE – The Met Office has predicted rains in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtoonkhawa (KPK), Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir during April 9 to 11. Scattered rains along with dust-thundershowers are expected in KPK, Upper Punjab and GB-Kashmir from Saturday to Monday.
The expected rain in Punjab and KPK would be accompanied by gusty winds, and the wheat farmers are advised not to irrigate their crops during the coming few days. The probability of occurrence of isolated hailstorm in the sub-mountainous areas of KPK and North Punjab during the weekend cannot be ruled out, says the Met Office.
The Met Office further informed that owing to the prevailing La-Nina conditions, the current winter/spring seasons in the Middle East and the South Asia remained wetter than normal. Saudi Arabia, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan have already received above normal rains during the late winter/spring this year. Two more spells of such unusual rains are predicted in parts of the Middle East and South-Asia including Pakistan during the current month.
Therefore, the day temperatures, owing to frequent cloud cover and occasional rains, are likely to remain 3-5 degrees centigrade in most parts of the country.
