Musharraf must be extradited, Nazir tells Cameron

LONDON – Lord Nazir Ahmed, member of Britain’s House of Lords, asked British Prime Minister David Cameron in a letter on Thursday to send former president Pervez Musharraf back to Pakistan to face cases pending against him in Pakistani courts.
Ahmed demanded that Musharraf be extradited immediately because he was alleged to have been a part of a broad conspiracy to murder former prime minster Benazir Bhutto. He said that a Rawalpindi court had issued arrest warrants for Musharraf in the case, and Interpol had been contacted in this regard as well.
Musharraf resided in Britain on consent from former British prime minister Tony Blair, and authorisation for his stay must be cancelled by Britain, he wrote. He stated that the British government must show respect for the Pakistani courts and Musharraf must be handed over to Pakistani authorities.
