KARACHI – City Administrator Fazlur Rehman on Thursday announced a package of Rs 8 million to be utilised on acquiring uniforms for city wardens while increasing budget allocations for city wardens and fire brigade department in the next financial year.
Addressing the concluding ceremony of a 15-day training course for city wardens, Rehman said that such useful training was mandatory not only for city wardens but for the whole nation, adding that the people have appreciated the performance of the city wardens which was proof of their good work. Municipal Services EDO Masood Alam, City Wardens District Officer Tehsinur Rehman, City Warden Deputy Chief Mairajul Haq were also present on this occasion.
The city administrator said that the uniform of the city wardens was a symbol of honour for them and for the city government also. “These unarmed wardens are serving the people on the roads of the city and we all should fully support and cooperate with them to bring about an improvement in the society,” he added. The Municipal Services EDO said that training programmes for city wardens would continue and they too will get the opportunity to get advanced training in foreign countries like the fire brigade officials.
“Fifty city wardens have completed their training during which they have been provided useful knowledge about their work,” he said.
Earlier, the Administrator Karachi gave away certificates to the trainee participants.
