LAHORE – On the directions of Punjab Ombudsman Khalid Mehmood, Old Anarkali police has arrested Muridke Halqa Patwari Iftikhar Ahmad and his impersonator Muhammad Shoaib on Wednesday. Ombudsman Punjab had directed Old Anarkali SHO to arrest and register FIR against the accused on a complaint lodged by Sikandar Hayat, who submitted that he was the legal owner of a piece of land and his ownership was reflected by ownership register of Muridke Halqa Patwari from 1938-39 to 1999-2000.
Patwari Halqa with support of department’s senior officials, tried to deprive him from ownership of that land, complained Hayat. He said a similar attempt was made from Patwari Halqa in 2002 through fake registration of mutation, which has been cancelled and no appeal was made against the cancellation. During the hearing of the said complaint, Punjab ombudsman deputed Kabir Ahmed Khan as the investigating officer, who called for the report from the concerned agency.
