QUETTA – Like other parts of the country, house counting started in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan on Wednesday. The counting process will end on April 19, whereas the second phase focusing on population census would be conducted in August and September this year.
Quetta has been divided into 74 circles and 566 blocks. Officials said one block consisted of 250 houses while there would be three to 10 blocks in each union. The house listing is being carried out in Quetta under supervision of 74 supervisors in 74 circles and 14 charge attendants.
The civil administration asked the people to cooperate with officials conducting house listing and provide them complete information so that transparency could be ensured and exact number could be determined. It said all citizens must keep a copy of their computerized identity card with themselves during house counting so that details could be registered in accordance with national identity cards.
Similarly, house listing has also been started in other districts of the province, including Mekran division, where officials said volunteers were also cooperating with survey teams. Kech Deputy Commissioner Tariq Qambar Baloch said control rooms had been established in Levies Headquarter, Turbat for monitoring of house listing and census campaign.
