LAHORE – Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) held Istahqam-e-Pakistan rally from the party office at the Punjab House to the shrine of Hazrat Ali Hajvairi on Tuesday to gain the street power before its big show scheduled on April 10. MQM Rabta Committee member Saif Yar Khan who has been assigned to look after party’s affairs in Punjab led the rally.
Dozens of people on motorcycles, cars, vans and jeeps were carrying banners, party flags and Altaf Hussain’s portraits and chanting slogans against the government and in favour of the MQM. Iftikhar Randhawa, Sarfraz Nawaz and other MQM leaders from Punjab and Sindh were also in the rally organised by the MQM Lahore zone.
The leaders said MQM was heading towards Punjab to help the poor get rid of chaudhrys and vaderas and added that MQM was the only political party that was practically struggling to save Pakistan. They said that meeting on April 10 in Lahore would prove the beginning of masses rule and ending of feudal system that, they described, was in fact a menace for the Pakistani society.
On the occasion, the welfare organisation Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation Lahore organised a free medical camp for the poor patients who were not only checked by the medical experts but were also provided with free medicines. Sindh Minister Abdul Haseeb and members of provincial assembly (MPAs) Dr Nadeem Ahsan and Abdul Moeed farooqi visited the camp and appreciated the efforts of doctors and paramedical staff.
MQM activists and leaders also visited the Anarkali Bazaar and met with traders and shoppers there. Kishwar Zahra, Moeen Khan and Sarfraz Nawaz mixed up with the crowd that gathered there to listen to the message of Haq Parasts.
