KAC asks Pakistanis, Kashmiris to unite

LONDON – A UK-wide representative convention of Kashmir Centre London Advisory Council was held in Birmingham on Sunday. Delegations from across the country attended the convention which was organized and presided by a prominent Kashmiri leader Chaudhry Sabir Hussain of Walking.
Sheffied based community leader and ex-councillor Ilyas Khan, Director Kashmir Centre UK Nazir Shawl, Iltaf Abbasi, Nisar Qureshi Chartered Accountant Haji Younas , Abdul Ghaffar JP, British Airway Manager Raja Sakhwat also attended the meeting. Addressing the convention, Ilyas Khan advocated the unity of both Pakistani and Kashmiri community for the cause of Kashmir.
He said that Kashmir dispute was close to the heart of every Pakistani and the future of Pakistan and Kashmir is linked. “The peaceful indigenous and widespread uprising of the Kashmiri people has demonstrated that the issue of Jammu and Kashmir cannot be ignored,” Mr Ilyas said. Nisar Qureshi said human rights violations in the Indian occupied Kashmir have also been noted by the international community and media.
He also sought support from the international community for the people of Kashmir for their right to self-determination. Participants of the convention adopted a declaration which states that the latest report of human right violation in 26 countries, released by the British foreign secretary, has ignored the massive human rights violations committed by the Indian state in Kashmir.
They called upon the British All Parties Parliamentary Group to take up the issue with British authorities. They also demanded immediate release of all political detainees held in Indian occupied Kashmir.
