ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani will embark upon a private visit to the UK after chairing the federal cabinet meeting today (Wednesday). He would fly to London to inquire after the health of his ailing son, Haider Gilani, who may undergo surgery for hepatic cyst.
During his stay in London, which is known for behind-the-scene political manoeuvrings, Gilani is likely to call on PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif to inquire about his health.
The possible meeting between the two leaders would provide an opportunity to the prime minister to reiterate the PPP’s policy of reconciliation and apprise Nawaz about the factors behind moving the presidential reference in the Supreme Court for the reopening of the Zulfikar Ali Bhutto case.
Nawaz is likely to take up the contentious issues of the appointment of the NAB chairman, hike in petroleum prices and devolution of the HEC with the PM.
