KARACHI – Ajmal Pahari, the suspect allegedly involved in 100 murders and targeted killings, was sent into judicial custody on Tuesday.
After interrogating the alleged accused, the police had produced him before the trail courts with his recorded statements.
Judicial Magistrate (Central) Malik Ahsan sent Pahari into judicial custody until April 11 in different cases including police encounter and attempt to murder.
Meanwhile, Judicial Magistrate (West) Muhammad Arif Rajput sent him to the custody until April 15 in two cases of possession of explosives (under explosive substance act), possession of arms 13-E (arms ordinance) and for killing two persons named Muhammad Mansoor and Rehan Ali in Bilal Colony police jurisdictions.
According to the prosecution, a joint team of Anti-Extremist Cell (AEC) and Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) had arrested the suspect allegedly involved in 100 targeted killings.
The police claimed that during preliminary interrogation, the alleged accused had confessed that he was involved in killing of more than 58 people including MPA Zohair Akram Nadeem, DSP Shamim, ASI Arif Shah, Advocate Iqbal Rad, 14 MQM-Haqiqi activists of in Pak Colony, 12 persons in Orangi Town and six more in the Ranchore Line area.
Police also alleged that Pahari was also involved in several other heinous offences including attacks on the Sindh Secretariat building and headquarters of MQM-Haqiqi Baitul Hamza, and kidnappings for ransom, extortion while he was also patronising several land mafia groups.
The prosecution stated that the police had recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition including two Kalashnikovs, two TT pistols, four hand grenades, two repeaters, one 8mm rifle, three tripple-2 rifles, one stain gun and 200 rounds from the suspect.
