KARACHI – Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had a passion for educational institutions, said professor of politics and history and University of Karachi Director of the Pakistan Study Centre, Dr Jaffer Ahmed Syed on Monday.
He was speaking at commemoration lecture at the Shaheed Zufikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST).
The lecture – Bhutto and His Struggle for Democracy – was organised to mark the 32nd death anniversary of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto at SZABIST.
Dr Jaffer also spoke about Bhutto’s efforts to provide Pakistan with a constitution. He said that Bhutto took power when Pakistan was in total disarray, yet the country witnessed some great developments during his rule.
SZABIST Vice President Dr Amanat Ali Jalbani welcomed the guests.
Addressing the audience, he said that this day should be remembered as one of the darkest days in the history of the Muslim world.
He further explained that Bhutto will always be alive in the hearts and minds of people.
“At SZABIST, we are trying our best to keep Bhutto’s precept alive of spreading the light of education all over Pakistan and abroad,” he said.
