Pakistan, Japan need to expand ties, says Gilani

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani Monday said the government to government and the people to people level ties between Pakistan and Japan would greatly help building a partnership between two countries in various areas. He said this while talking to the outgoing Japanese Ambassador Chihiro Atsumi.
Gilani said that high level visits and exchange of parliamentary delegations may help in strengthening the people to people relationship. Referring to the potential of trade and investment between the two countries, the prime minister said that Pakistan was determined to create friendlier environment for foreign investors.
He expressed confidence that relations between Pakistan and Japan in all fields particularly economic had the inherent capacity to acquire new heights. The prime minister expressed solidarity and sympathies on behalf of the government and the people of Pakistan over the tragic disaster caused by earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
The prime minister appreciated the role of Japan in the FODP (Friends of Democratic Pakistan) forum for helping raise financial support for Pakistan. The outgoing ambassador thanked the prime minister for expressing solidarity with the government and people of Japan over their tragedy because of natural disaster.
