Karim condemns attack

LAHORE – Condemning the suicide bombing at the shrine of Sakhi Sarwar, Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) Chairman Fazal Karim on Monday announced that the party will observe a “condemnation day” on Friday.
Holding a press conference at the Lahore Press Club, Karim said that terrorists and western powers want to destabilise the country. In the last one month, we have buried eight brailvi clerics killed in Karachi, he said adding that it is a testing time for us.
Karim said that traitors of Pakistan want to ignite sectarian violence in the country but peace-loving followers of sufis will foil any such conspiracy but at the same time, the Punjab government could not forget its duty to maintain law and order. He asked the Punjab government to immediately start a crackdown on central Punjab seminaries, which have turned into factories of suicide bombers.
The SIC chairman demanded establishment of a special force for the security of shrines. Karim also demanded an All Parties Conference to formulate a joint strategy to fight the menace of terrorism. SIC leaders asked the CJP to take suo motu notice of attacks on shrines and killings of clerics in Karachi. Separately, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Munawar Hasan and Secretary General Liaqat Baloch condemned the blasts in Lower Dir.
