LAHORE – The Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (JUP) held a protest outside the Lahore Press Club on Monday against the suicide bombing at the shrine of Sakhi Sarwar at Dera Ghazi Khan. JUP leaders said that the rulers had completely failed to protect the most revered places of Ahle Sunnat, including mosques, shrines and mausoleums. The rulers are unable to control the deteriorating law and order situation in the country due to which they should resign, the clerics said.
Earlier, the Anjuman Sarfaroshan-e-Islam, in its emergency meeting, condemned the bombing at the shrine of Sakhi Sarwar. Participants of the meeting warned the Punjab government to take stern action against perpetrators of such heinous crimes. “If the Punjab government failed to fulfill its duties to protect the masses from terrorists, people will take to the streets,” they warned.
