CTGPC chairman to meet WAPDA officials

ISLAMABAD – The China Three Gorges Project Corporation (CTGPC) Chairman Cao Guangjing will be given a detailed presentation on investment opportunities in the hydroelectric power sector by the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) today.
An official source said that the CTGPC chairman will be holding meeting with the Minister for Water and Power Syed Naveed Qamar and other officials on Tuesday while he was expected to meet with the President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday. It is pertinent to mention that the CTGPC has built the Yangtze Three Gorges Project (TGP), the largest hydropower-complex project ever built in the world.
Pakistan and China have established a joint energy working group to expedite cooperation in the energy sector. The government, the source said wants to expedite the utilisation of abundant water power resources with the help of Chinese. He said that Chinese companies were evincing keen interest in investing in the hydroelectric power sector in Pakistan.
