British PM holds strategic talks with Pakistani counterpart

ISLAMABAD – British Prime Minister David Cameron held strategic talks with his Pakistani counterpart Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Tuesday and discussed ways to further boost economic and anti-terror cooperation.
Cameron first held one-to-one meeting with Gilani and later officials of the two sides joined the leaders in strategic talks.
Cameron visited the landmark Faisal Mosque and a girls’ school shortly after his arrival in the Pakistani capital Islamabad on Tuesday morning.
Earlier Cameron was accorded a warm welcome when he arrived for a day-long visit at the Chaklala air base near Islamabad. This is Cameron’s first visit to Pakistan since he took office in May 2010.
A formal welcoming ceremony was held at the Prime Minister House where a smart contingent of Pakistani troops presented him the guard of honor.
“Pakistan attaches considerable importance to the British Prime Minister’s visit and to the close cooperative relationship with the United Kingdom,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Tehmina Janjua said.
Cameron was accompanied by security and defence officials, who in their talks with Pakistani counterparts would discuss anti- terror cooperation.
