PTU condemns non-academic duties of teachers

LAHORE – Punjab Teachers Union (PTU) office-bearers on Sunday condemned the deployment of teachers for non-academic duties including polio campaign and population census. They said that the PTU will boycott teachers’ duties during the polio campaign and census.
The office-bearers urged the Punjab government to review its decision in this regard. PTU President Sajjad Akbar Kazmi, along with other PTU office-bearers, said
that how could teachers teach while performing non-academic activities. They said that children will leave schools if teachers will not take classes.
The PTU office-bearers asked the authorities concerned to postpone the census at the earliest.
