ISLAMABAD – Farooq Sattar has said that Mutahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has asked the federal ministers to review the recent hike in POL prices as public is unable to bear this additional burden caused by the high prices of the petroleum products.
A delegation of the MQM headed by Dr Farooq Sattar called on the Federal Finance Minister Hafiz Sheikh and Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik here on Sunday and discussed the matter.
Talking to media, federal Finance Minister said on the occasion that the government was trying its level best to burden the people as low as possible and give them some relief after consultation with the leadership of all political parties of the country.
Federal Interior Minister said that the people should understand the difficult situation being faced by the government.
Both federal ministers added further that the government was facing a very difficult situation caused by the high oil prices in the international markets but still it would try to give some relief to the public.
“Stern arrangements are being made to tackle activities of the extortionists’ mafia and curb target killings in Karachi,” Rehman Malik added.
