Crime reporter shot dead in Baghdadi

KARACHI – A local newspaper’s chief crime reporter was gunned down by unidentified culprits in the Baghdadi police precincts on Saturday. Police said that Zaman Ali, 42, was near the Hussain Bhai Ismailji Road when two men on a motorcycle opened fire on him. Ali suffered a bullet to the head and died on the spot, whereas his body was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi. The Crime Reporters Association condemned his murder and sought protection for working journalists.
‘BOOKIE’ KILLED: An alleged bookie was shot dead by unidentified culprits in the Defence area. The Gizri police said that Ishtiaq alias Ganja was standing outside his apartment building in DHA Phase-VI when unidentified men opened fire on him. Ishtiaq suffered nine bullets, and was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. However, he succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital. Police claimed that the victim was a bookie.
