Srinagar – More than 50 innocent Kashmiris are languishing in Tihar Jail who have been implicated by Indian police in false cases.
Ghulam Mohiudeen Dar, a recently released Kashmiri from Tihar Jail, talking to the newsmen in Srinagar, said that the Indian police was victimizing the people of occupied Kashmir.
“I was a dealer of Gulnar tea and used to go to Delhi on business frequently. On one such trip on June 15, 2005, the Delhi Police unlawfully arrested me by implicating in a fake case,” he added.
Revealing further details, he said that his ordeal started when an Indian Military Intelligence officer, Major Rajesh Saroi, alias Major Sharma, posted in Alochi Bagh area of Srinagar asked to work for him but he and his neighbour, Majid, refused to do so.
“The refusal to work for Indian MI officer cost Dar and me six years of our lives,” said, Majid who lost his job following the detention.
He said that they still lived in mortal fear of being put in jail in another baseless case by the Delhi Police. Flaying the Indian government for meting out inhuman treatment to Kashmiris, Majid said that nothing could compensate for his wife’s tears and his children’s lonely fearful nights, which they spent without him.
