LAHORE – After remaining out of the political arena for over two weeks due to health issues, PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif has resumed political activities while heading a meeting to discuss the prevalent situation in the country. The meeting discussed the current political situation, the aftermath of the Raymond Davis case, allegations on the Punjab government in the case, the Pakistan-India Cricket World Cup semi-final, cricket diplomacy and the increase in terrorist incidents. The meeting also took stock of national and international issues facing the country.
During the meeting that was attended by PML-N senior leaders Raja Zafrul Haq, Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Tahir Barjis, PML-N UK President Nasir Butt and Zubair Gull, party leaders presented detailed reports on various political issues to Nawaz. They also apprised Nawaz of the party’s reorganisation drive. Nawaz said he went to hospital for a routine checkup but started bleeding after which he had to undergo a heart surgery. “I never thought that a minor pain could turn that worse,” he said. The PML-N chief said he was recovering fast and would be among the masses within two weeks after a final medical checkup.
