LAHORE – US Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia was given a traffic ticket after a four-car road crash in Washington DC. No one was injured in the shunt about 0900 local time (1400 GMT) on Tuesday. Mr Scalia, 75, was driving to work at the US Supreme Court, which was hearing arguments in a gender discrimination law suit against US retailer Wal-Mart. He was given a $70 (£43) ticket for following too closely, according to police quoted by the Washington Post newspaper.
Mr Scalia was driving south when his car was in a collision with the vehicle in front of him, triggering a chain reaction, police said. His car was towed from the scene. The longest serving justice on the nine-member court, Mr Scalia was appointed by President Ronald Regan in 1986. He will have the option of paying the fine or contesting the ticket in court.
