226 policemen regularised

GUJRANWALA – Gujranwala Regional Police Officer (RPO) Malik Ahmad Raza Tahir has issued the confirmation orders of 226 sub inspectors and constituted a district-level committee to sort out hurdles for in-time promotions of the police officers. The sub inspectors who got confirmation orders were 77 from Gujranwala, 37 from Gujrat, 68 from Sialkot, 15 from Hafizabad, 13 from Mandi Baha-ud-Din and 16 from Narowal. Hubco Power Plant starts functioning: The Hubco Power Plant Narowal has started functioning with 225MW electricity that will provide the masses with smooth flow of electricity.
Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) Chief Executive (CE) Muhammad Ibrahim Mojoka said this while addressing a meeting of GEPCO Advisory Board. General Manager Operations Sheikh Muhammad Ilyas, Saud Hassan Dar, Major (retd) Anum Pervez, Ch Sultan Ahmad Warraich, Muhammad Akram Malik and other members attended the meeting. The GEPCO CE said that hydro-based mega electricity projects were inevitable to fulfill the need of the electricity in the country, adding the government had been planning for it.
Thermal plants were also being established to cope with the challenge of power shortage in the country, he further said, adding that the industrial sector would be facilitated during shortfall so that production could not be disturbed. He said the GEPCO had been facing 200MW shortage these days and processing industry, textile industry and independent feeders were still exempted from power outages under the load management strategy of the GEPCO.
GCCI PRESIDENT WANTS REDESIGNED U-TURNS: Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) President Sheikh Sarwat Ikram has criticised the bad planning of construction of Lahore-Gujranwala GT Toad and demanded the National Highway Authority and other departments concerned amend the designs of all U-turns to save the precious lives of commuters.
Ikram expressed grief over the sad demise of local industrialist Muhammad Usman and his family along with their driver and said it was just due to the bad designing of the U-turns, adding tens of commuters had fallen victim to this bad designing. He also demanded the completion of the remaining construction work for smooth flow of traffic safety of commuters.
ROBBERS’ GANG BUSTED: Baghbanpura police have busted a gang of robbers and arrested its five members, including ringleader Akmal alias Billa, and recovered jewellery, cash and other robbed valuables worth more than Rs one million. Baghbanpura Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Imran Abbas Chaddhar said the robbers Akmal alias Billa, Nazar Hussain, Bilal, Asmat and Sajjad confessed their involvement in ten robberies in the city area and investigations were in progress to recover more snatched goods.
