LAHORE – A thaw has been finally created in the ongoing conflict between PCS officers and the District Management Group (DMG) after Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah met a delegation of PCS officers on Wednesday.
The PCS Officers’ Association has been on a strike for nearly 10 days, with several provincial service officers abstaining from work not only in the secretariat but in the districts as well. The Punjab government had initially refused to budge, claiming that all the demands put up by the PCS officers have already been met. But on Tuesday, the provincial government asked the PCS Officers’ Association to nominate members for fresh talks to resolve the issue.
A six-member committee of provincial service officers met Sanaullah on Wednesday in this regard and termed the meeting “positive”. Talking to Pakistan Today, PCS Officers’ Association President Rai Manzur Nasir said that the delegation is “hopeful” after the meeting. He said that although no breakthrough has been achieved in the meeting so far but both sides exchanged “pleasantries” and the overall impression is “positive”.
Nasir said that in the next level, the delegation will meet with the cabinet committee and present their grievances. To a question, he said, “The committee already knows our demands. In the current meeting again the law minister assured of fulfilling our demands. Any further decision will be taken after meeting the cabinet committee.”
