Renowned comedian Liaquat Soldier passes away

KARACHI – Renowned Pakistani comedian Liaquat Soldier passed away due to a heart attack on Wednesday.
He was participating in a special television transmission for the Cricket World Cup semi-final when he suffered a heart attack and breathed his last on the way to hospital.
His real name is Liaquat Ali, and is survived by a daughter and three sons. He belonged to the Memon community, and had started his career as an actor in the mid-70s.
He also had a passion for writing, but did not get many opportunities. Until 1974, he was an extra and had no major role in any play.
He kept struggling and, eventually, bagged an opportunity in a stage drama, but forgot his lines while performing in front of an audience.
However, he did not let the incident discourage him and was fortunate enough to grab another opportunity that helped him prove his abilities. From that point on, there was no looking back.
Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah and Culture Minister Sassui Palijo expressed grief over his demise.
Several television celebrities – including Moin Akhtar, Shahzad Raza, Rauf Lala, Ismail Tara and Zeba Shehnaz – also expressed grief over his death, saying that he was one of the greatest stage comedians of the country.
SINDHI ARTISTE PASSES AWAY: Senior Sindhi TV artiste Roshan Atta, who had been ill for quite a while, has also breathed her last on Wednesday.
