LOS ANGELES – An animated chameleon sheriff in the Wild West topped the international box office chart as ‘Rango’ in its fourth weekend took in a solid $16 million in 48 territories for a global total of $159.5 million. Johnny Depp’s international appeal is in evidence, even in animated form, with kids and families the world over embracing the film.
Space aliens also showed their international drawing power, with ‘Battle: Los Angeles’ in its third weekend abducting $15.8 million in 46 territories and a global total of $90.3 million. Rounding out the top three was Adam Sandler in ‘Just Go With It,’ earning $8.8 million in 35 territories for a global total of $135.6 million.
The romantic comedy impressively takes third place after being in the international marketplace for seven weeks, demonstrating that Sandler’s global comedy brand is very much alive and well.
