Kazmi sent on judicial remand

ISLAMABAD – A local court on Wednesday sent former minister for Religious Affairs Hamid Saeed Kazmi, who was in the custody of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), to jail on a 14-day judicial remand for his alleged involvement in the Haj scam.
Kazmi was produced in the court of Senior Civil Judge Aslam Gondal who passed the orders on the request of the FIA prosecutor. The former minister, bought to the court under tight security, was earlier on a physical remand in the multi-million Haj scandal.
The FIA prosecutor Khalid Naeem Butt told the court that the FIA found 14 plots, with full necessary legal documentation, owned by Kazmi’s family members. He said the total value of plots was estimated around Rs 4 million and the FIA would soon submit evidence to the court.
