ISLAMABAD – Exposing Interior Minister Rehman Malik’s attempt to dupe the Upper House, senators ridiculed him on Monday, saying the letter of the government against US priest Terry Jones was a mockery of the sentiments of the Muslims. Immediately after commenting on the unanimous resolution against the burning of the holy Quran by US pastor Terry Jones, Malik circulated a letter which the government had written to Interpol against the priest, among the members of the House.
After going through the letter, Ishaq Dar stood up and severely criticised the contents of the letter, calling terming it a mockery of the sentiments of the Muslims. Dar said lambasting Malik for duping the senators over the issue.
Meanwhile, the Senate unanimously passed a resolution and asked the US government to take action against Terry Jones, the US pastor committed the blasphemy. “This House is shocked, angered and saddened by the burning of the holy Quran by a contemptible person called Terry Jones. The House condemns the disgraceful act in the strongest possible terms and call upon governments of the Muslim World to convey their revulsion and disgust to the US government,” the resolution stated, calling upon the Obama administration to bring the culprit to justice without delay.
