China to support Pakistan’s agriculture

LAHORE – Chinese Ambassador Li Jian Monday said his country wanted a strong agricultural base and prosperous farmers in Pakistan, adding that no one could stop Pakistan’s farming sector to grow. Addressing a ceremony organised in connection with completion of the Auriga Group’s ten years, he praised Allama Muhammad Iqbal who had said that Chinese were not sleeping and preparing themselves to become a strong nation.
He promised to ensure that the Pak-China relations moved further and said Beijing had always supported Islamabad on every issue. Punjab Assembly Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal said he was proud of the friendship between the two countries.
Rana said being a agriculturist, he was delighted to be among the farmers, adding that the provincial government would continue encouraging the farming community. Auriga Group Chairman Jamshed Iqbal Cheema said with the support of Chinese brethrens, Pakistan could enhance the per acre yield of various crops by 40 to 50 percent. Later, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Pakistani and Chinese entities to boost cooperation developing new seeds.
