KASUR – The local WAPDA employees observed a comlete strike and took a rally against the police for not arresting the accused involved in the attack on their office. Reportedly, the powerloom workers and local residents protested against the Wapda over unscheduled loadshedding in Kasur on Monday.
The protesters also set seven motorcycles, vans and the office record on fire. Four LESCO officials, Jehangir Khan, Fayyaz, Shaukat and Nasir Joiya were also injured during a scuffle with the protesters. The police registered a case against 113 protesters of whom 13 were nominated in the FIR, including the father of PML-N MPA Haji Safdar Ansari.
Despite various raids, the police could not arrest the accused on which the Wapda employees took out a rally and staged a sit-in at Kutchehry Chowk. They announced that their protest would continue till the arrest of all the accused.
KILLER SENTENCED TO DEATH: District and Sessions Judge Nazir Ahmed Ganjana awarded death sentence and Rs 100,000 fine to an accused in a murder case.
Zafar Iqbal had killed Shahabuddin over a petty issue of refusing a lift on his bike at village Bablian in the jurisdiction of Kot Radha Kishan Police Station.
In another case, Judge Lubna Ali awarded life imprisonment to another murder accused. Muzaffar had abducted Dhop Khan and killed him over a property issue at Basti Qadraabad in the limits of Sadar Police Station.
ROAD ACCIDENT CLAIMS LIFE: A person was killed while another was injured in a road accident at Mandi Usmanwala.
Reportedly, Usman and Ali were going somewhere on their motorcycle when a tractor-trailer hit them. As a result, Usman died instantly and Ali received serious injuries. He was rushed to hospital in critical condition. The police have registered a case against the driver of the tractor who managed to escape after the accident.
