KARACHI – The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government is committed to the socio-economic empowerment of women through efficient and effective skill training programmes for them, Sindh Women Development Minister Tauqir Fatima Bhutto said on Sunday.
“It is with this very objective that efforts are under way to strengthen and expand the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Youth Development Programme (BBSYDP),” she told delegations of women from different parts of the province at her office.
According to a press statement, the minister urged women activists to sensitise the public in general and women folk in particular so that education and skill development could be used for the socio-economic empowerment of women. The minister said that the BBSYDP is playing its due role in the financial stability of women through imparting skills in different trades.
She said that in continuation of its objectives, the third phase of BSYDP will begin in Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Shaheed Benazirabad, Larkana and Sukkur today (Monday) and end on April 2. “Entry tests and interviews of all candidates in courses that also include office management will be conducted at the offices of the respective district coordination officers for the programme,” she said.
She said that to make the dreams of Benazir Bhutto come true, the PPP government is making all efforts to empower women as nations can only develop when their women folk are active participants in all spheres of life.
