Pakistan, India battle it out on cyberspace

LAHORE – There are still four days left for the battle of nerves in Wednesday’s semi final between India and Pakistan but the cyber battle between the two countries has already been begun on the Facebook and Twitter. Pakistanis and Indians are in a competition to create exciting graphics, catchy massages and amazing wall-posts on the social networking websites.
“To all the Indian fans out there….the weather forecast for March 30 is that a storm is coming and it is green in color.” a Pakistan cricket team fan writes on the Indian team’s Facebook page. There is no dearth of offensive messages by the fans of both the teams. Owais Kashif says that Pakistan has already beaten two favourites — Sri Lanka and Australia — now it is the turn of another hot favourite, India.
“My suggestion to the team is don’t get too hyper, just consider it a semi final and not ‘a Pakistan- India clash.” Thousands of fans have even changed their profile pictures to India-Pakistan flags, swords and even the pictures of skipper Shahid Afridi in which he is raising his hands towards sky.
A diehard cricket fan, Ahmad Farooq, updates his Facebook status with a note, “India has never lost to Pakistan in a World Cup, and Pakistan has never lost to India in Mohali”. Another fan, Amy Johnson, comes up with an interesting status, “SHIV SINHA got scared of Pakistan :D” This battle will definitely continue until the 30th of March, when the hands will remain in the air to pray for the Pakistani team, as Shahid Afridi has already appealed for the prayers to the nation.
A university student, Murtaza Asif’s staus was “Pakistan vs India would be a heart attack match for the loser…Shane Warne tweets “Mmmmmm Pakistan bowlers and team look the real deal. Tough to beat.. Could win world cup !”, well after having comments from great cricket pundits about Pakistan, cricket fans have also high hopes from the team. After predicting West Indies win before the first Quarter final, Shane Warne stated that “(Pakistan) could win world cup”
Fans also sharing videos of Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Akhter, while commenting that Indian team is scared of the battle as they are fearing from the pace of Shoaib Akhter and the bat and ball of Shahid Afridi. Fans saying that it is an ultimate love hate clash between the titans and they hay have also demanded a holiday on 30th March, whereas advance booking has already been started in different cinemas.
Not only cinemas are showing the great battle but the big screens are also being arranged at Jail Road, Ghalib Market, Expo Center and other places. Special arrangements have also been made in the homes, where cousins and mates making plans to watch the match together, whereas they have already started discussing the meals at that day.
A cricket fan, Ali Baig said that Shahid Afridi will play like an injured lion as he has not been scoring runs for last several months, therefore India should watch out for the big showdown. Fans also suggesting to play Shoaib Akhter instead of Wahab Riaz that would not only add experience to our line-up but it can also psychologically give advantage to the Pakistani team.
