ISLAMABAD – PML-Q Secretary-General Mushahid Hussain Sayed Sunday urged Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani to grasp any opportunity while adopting a visionary approach in talks with Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh if any meeting is held on the sidelines of the Pak-India ICC World Cup semi-final clash.
“Prime Minister Gilani should look for an innovative approach in talks with his Indian counterpart and he should go India after proper briefings and homework on India, Pak relations. This visit could prove to bring a historic breakthrough in ties between the neighbouring countries,” said Mushahid while addressing a press conference held at the PML House in the federal capital.
Mushahid said the coercive policy adopted by Indian regime against Pakistan had backfired after the unmaking of Indian elements involved in Samjhota Express and also the new Intefada in Indian Held Kashmir has pressurised Indians to come to the dialogue table.
Mushahid warned the Sindh and Punjab governments to review their strategy of victimising the voiceless and peaceful protesters, saying if the ruling elites did not mend their ways, a Middle East-like situation could emerge in Pakistan and the people, who were now making peaceful protests, would be up in arms against the rulers.
Strongly denouncing ‘double standards’ of the federal and provincial governments, Mushahid said both the governments were victimising the lady health workers and young doctors for rising their voices against injustice meted out to them.
He said, “The only crime made by both the lady health workers’ association and the young doctors association is that they have called for implementation of the Supreme Court’s verdict on minimum wage.
