KARACHI – Attock Oil Refinery has again increased prices of lube base oil by Rs 11 per litre, triggering a sharp rise in all lubricating oils.
The All Pakistan Lubricants Manufacturers Association (APLMA) Chairman Mian Zahid Husain, while condemning this arbitrary act by the refinery, warned the government for a significant increase of Rs 15 per litre in each lubricating oil brand. Mian Zahid stated that Attock Refinery has so far increased Rs 30 per litre in the last four months, as lube base oil has underwent a rise thrice during the said period.
“Lubricating oil manufacturers are constantly being ignored by Attock Refinery and are raising prices without any consultation with stakeholders on vague pretexts”, alleged Zahid, while asking the government to intervene into the matter and get the refinery’s decision reversed. He said that no government functionary is taking notice of the arbitrary increase in lube oil prices to the woes of lubricants manufacturers and motor vehicles’ owners, who have been forced to buy expensive motor oils.
