KARACHI – Provincial Electric Power Minister and Adviser on Oil and Gas Shazia Marri took serious notice of the shortage of potable water and other facilities in Karachi on Monday and directed the officials concerned to address the citizens’ woes as soon as possible. Marri ordered the action after hearing the complaints from all over Sindh at the Chief Minister’s House Complaint Cell. She directed the officials concerned to ensure uninterrupted supply of drinking water to the citizens as well as provision of other basic facilities.
The minister received complaints of drinking water shortage from Keamari, Liaquat Colony, Shah Waliullah Road, Green Town, Shah Faisal Colony and other areas. Marri contacted the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board chief engineer and other officials and directed them to solve the problem of water shortage. Marri also directed the Karachi Electric Supply Company officials to curb the problem of load shedding in the city.
PFUJ OFFICE-BEARERS: Marri also congratulated the newly-elected office bearers of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ). Congratulating PFUJ President Pervaiz Shoukat, Secretary Ameen Yousuf, GM Jamali and others, she hoped that the PFUJ would continue its struggle for the freedom of journalism. She said that the PFUJ had played a vital role in restoration of democracy and it fought against dictatorship. She said that the present government believes in upholding the freedom of journalism and she assured her full cooperation to the PFUJ. She hoped that the journalists’ body would continue playing its role for the promotion of journalism as well as democracy.
