Privatisation Commission Board gets members from private sector

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Saturday reconstituted the Privatisation Commission (PC) Board with majority of new members inducted from the private sector. According to an official announcement, the PC Board has been reconstituted with Minister for Privatisation Syed Naveed Qamar as chairman while Iftikhar ul Haq, Laeeq Ahmed, Mahmood Nawaz Shah, Tanvir Ahmad Sheikh, Nawabzada Saifullah Magsi, Farid Malik, Shahab Anwar Khawaja and Secretary Privatisation Commission Muhammad Ejaz Chaudhry are the members.
Most of these members represent the private sector with vast experience in various economy related sectors and business groups and remained on PC Board from time to time. Iftikhar ul Haq, Master in Public Administration, has 40 years experience of management of projects, companies, corporations and government departments. Since 1987, he is the MD Engineering General Consultants (Pvt) Ltd, Lahore. He remained a member of the board from 1993 to 1996 and from 2003 to February 2008.
Laeeq Ahmed is presently CEO Olympus International (Pvt) Ltd, Lahore, and has vast experience in business management, risk management, organisation design and restructuring. Mahmood Nawaz Shah, MS Engineering Management, is an agriculturist from Sindh was a member of the board from March 2003 to February 2011. Tanvir Ahmad Sheikh, MBA, is a renowned industrialist and remained president of FPCCI from 2007 to 2008 while Nawabzada Saifullah Magsi remained senior minister for Planning and Development, Law and Parliamentary Affairs and the Department of Prosecution in Balochistan.
Farid Malik, CFA, has varied experience in local capital markets and remained associated with ABN AMRO Bank, Tomen Power, Singapore, SECP, Invest Capital Securities and Lahore Stock Exchange. Shahab Anwar Khawaja, MS Chemistry and a DMG officer, served at key positions in the federal and provincial governments.
