Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly denounces fanatic US pastor

PESHAWAR – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Friday adopted a resolution strongly condemning the desecration of Holy Quran by pastor Terry Jones of Florida and demanded the government must convey Pakistani’s sentiments to the US ambassador in Islamabad.
The house passed another resolution sympathising with the people of Japan who suffered devastation caused by earthquake, tsunami and resultant nuclear crisis. The lawmakers said Pakistanis stood with Japanese during these drastic times.
The first resolution condemning pastor was moved parliamentary leader from PPP Abdul Akbar Khan. MPA Nigat Awarkzai also criticised US-led drone strikes in Pakistan which she said were targeting ‘innocent’ Pakistanis. She observed that US must seek apology for the ‘provocative’ act of the pastor, which she termed was a pre-planned attempt to mortify sentiments of the Muslims.
Christian lawmaker while denouncing the desecration of Holy Quran said it was an individual act of Pastor Terry Jones. He said no Christian could allow the desecration of any holy book. He demanded that US government must penalise the pastor for his doing. Mian Iftikhar, Prince Javeed, Bashir Bilour, and others MPAs also condemned the desecration.
The second resolution was moved by the Israr Ullah Kundi while expressing sorrow for the losses faced by Japanese because of earthquake, tsunami and the nuclear crisis. Main Iftikhar Hussain, information minister and spokesman for the ANP denounced the desecration of the Holy Quran. He said it was the US that created the terrorists it was now eliminating.
