LAHORE – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has threatened to block the supply route for NATO forces in Afghanistan if the US did not stop drone attacks inside the tribal areas of the country in a month.
Addressing a PTI rally at Qartaba Chowk against the desecration of the Holy Quran by a US priest, release of Raymond Davis and killing of innocent people in drone attacks, Imran asked the government to adopt immediate measures to stop the US strikes in the Tribal Areas, else “the nation will have to take ultimate action.”
Condemning the drone attacks, he announced to stage a sit-in for three days in Peshawar at the NATO Supply route to Afghanistan if federal government failed to get the drone attacks halted. He condemned the “subjugated” role of rulers, saying they would have to stop the drone attacks now as no more killing of Pakistanis could be tolerated.
Urging the countrymen to stand united to stop the drone strikes against the country, Khan said tribesmen had already announced war against the US. He lamented the dual role of rulers. While cursing Zardari-Nawaz match fixing over the issue of Raymond Davis, he said the nation wanted to know how many of Davis’ kind were roaming across the country to kill innocent people.
He said that the corrupt leaders of Punjab and centre had sold out the blood of Pakistanis for a few dollars, but the killing of Pakistanis continued unabated. He expressed his party’s firm resolve to ensure justice for every segment of society. Imran said that PTI would continue to fight for justice for Pakistanis, adding that it was time for the nation to rise up for protecting its honour.
Criticising politicians who have their assets abroad, he said such people would not be permitted to participate in national politics. Rejecting the “fake parliament”, Khan said what could be the credibility of a body which came into existence with fake votes. Imran said educational degrees of half of the sitting parliamentarians were fake.
The PTI chairman extended support to the cause of PCS officers and doctors in Punjab, adding that protection of minorities should be ensured at every cost.
