LAHORE – Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Officers Association of Pakistan has decided to launch a protest against the delay in the implementation of salary increase and in this connection they would only perform duties as stated in the rule book from March 30; no additional duties would be performed.
While addressing a press conference, Association President Ghulam Mustafa Khan Mirani said from March 30, all Operation and Technical and Administrative Units in all 42 airports of the country would launch protests and ‘go by the book’. He maintained that no additional duties would be performed by the officers or any relaxation would be given to the CAA management.
“In this connection, the CAA officials would not be responsible for the losses that might incur by international airlines during the protest,” he added. He told the press that the protest will continue till their demands is met, which include implementation of pay rise for CAA officers, as approved by the CAA Board, with all dues since July 2009, and in this connection some authority gives guarantee for resolution of all their outstanding demands.
Their other demands include establishment of aviation foundation, service quota for retired officers, welfare policy and stoppage of contract and deputations in CAA. He appealed to the president, prime minister and federal defence minister to intervene and resolve the issue; they have five days to do so.
