KASUR – Hundreds of people took out a rally against unscheduled load shedding in Kasur and reduced millions of rupees vans, motorcycles and other valuables to ashes. Reportedly, a rally of power loom workers and local residents that started from Kot Murad Khan, reached the WAPDA office where other angry people also joined it. The protesters chanted slogans against the WAPDA and said their business had been closed due to the load shedding, due to which, they were unable to feed their children properly.
The angry protesters burnt tyres, injured four WAPDA employees and set seven motorcycles and vans on fire. The police reached the spot, controlled the situation and registered cases against more than one hundred people including the father of a local MPA. After the incident, a heavy contingent of police was deployed in and around the WAPDA office. An eye witness student Sikandar said he was not happy with the incident but added that due to the unscheduled load shedding, he could not study properly.
Labour Party Punjab General Secretary Ch Imtiaz Advocate condemned the registration of case against the workers and said the workers were fighting against the unemployment and poverty. He said the government should take the issue seriously otherwise people would be forced to come out to fight for their rights. sCouple among five killed in road accident: At least five people, including a couple, were killed in an accident near Dostpura in the jurisdiction of Khuddian Police Station. Reportedly, a passenger van was on its way to Kasur when its tyre burst and it turned-turtle. As a result, Michael Masih, Farooq, Sajida, Imran and an unidentified man were killed instantly while Anwar and Sughran Bibi sustained serious injuries.
MAN COMMITS SUICIDE: A man committed suicide over a domestic issue at Basti Vanekan in the precincts of B-Division Police Station. Reportedly, Nasir Alyas shot himself dead after an exchange of hot words with his family.
